How it works

The GentleBottle Transitional Set changes the top and the grip rather than the bottle, so your baby keeps the same soft silicone body from first feeds to first sips. The teether handle snaps on to give small hands grippable side rails, and the sippy lid turns the same bottle into a soft-spout sippy cup.

Start with the nipple for milk feeds. Once your baby wants to hold the bottle, snap on the teether handle. When it is time to wean, put the transitional sippy lid on the bottle.

Why parents choose it

  • Three stages on one bottle: nipple, teether handle, transitional sippy lid
  • Snap-on teether handle adds side rails sized for baby palms
  • Textured ring on the handle doubles as a teether between feeds
  • Keeps the bottle body your baby already knows through weaning
  • Caps seal the bottle for the fridge or the diaper bag

Who it is for

Good fit for
  • A baby who will move from bottle to cup on a bottle body they already accept. The set includes the bottle, nipple, teether handle, transitional sippy lid and caps.
  • A parent who would rather buy the weaning parts up front than one at a time.
  • A gift that stays useful across the 0 to 6, 6 to 12 and 12 months and up stages this product is tagged for.
Not right for
  • Someone who already owns a GentleBottle and only needs one part. The sippy lid, soft spout, teether handle and caps are each sold separately.
  • A family skipping bottles entirely.
  • A straw cup. This set has no straw.

Keeping one familiar bottle through feeding, self-holding, and weaning stages reduces the refusals I see when families switch systems mid-stream.

Can I buy the sippy lid alone?

Yes. The transitional sippy lid in the GentleBottle Transitional Set is also sold on its own and fits the GentleBottle 4oz and 8oz. The teether handle, soft spout and caps are each sold separately too, so a parent who already owns a GentleBottle can add only the part they need, while the set suits a family starting from the bottle.

More questions (7)

Will this work for a breastfed baby?

The GentleBottle system was designed specifically for breastfed babies, with a soft squeezable body and off-center nipple that mimics a natural latch to reduce bottle refusal.

What should I look for in a bottle for a newborn?

A slow, controlled flow and a soft nipple that supports a deep latch. The GentleBottle’s off-center nipple angles toward the palate and paces milk like nursing, and the 4oz size suits early feeds, which is why parents searching for the best bottles for breastfed babies so often land on it.

Are glass or plastic baby bottles better?

Both have trade-offs, which is why we chose a third material. The GentleBottle is 100% food-grade silicone (free of BPA, PVC, lead, and phthalates), so it will not shatter like glass, and the soft body compresses in a baby’s hands like skin. It goes in the dishwasher (top rack) or a steam sterilizer without breaking down.

Is this safe for my baby?

Yes. Olababy feeding products are made from 100% high-purity food-grade silicone with no fillers, free of BPA, PVC, lead, and phthalates, and tested to FDA food-contact standards.

How do I clean and sterilize it?

Silicone products are dishwasher safe (top rack) and can be sterilized in boiling water or a steam sterilizer. Air-dry fully before storing.

What if it does not work for us?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery (see our return policy for details). US shipping is free on orders over $49.

Why Olababy

Every feeding product is one material, food-grade silicone, soft enough for gums that are still teething and inert enough to go through a dishwasher for years. The panel above names what is in it and what is kept out of it.

Olababy has designed in Portland, Oregon since 2015, with parents testing the things their own children eat from.

    Love this set

I wish I knew about these bottles last year when I created my registry. These bottles feel and look high quality and I can use them for storage of breast milk or snacks for my son. Plus they transition to a sippy cup or a cup with a straw!!! I’m so happy with this purchase!

    Nice bottles!

Super lightweight, handles make it easy for my 4 month old to hold it by himself. The lids are a little hard to tighten and then remove. Wish the cap contoured the nipple shape to stop leaks when mixing formula.

Does baby led weaning help a baby learn when they are full?

Laura Lucas, a senior clinical dietitian at Texas Children's Hospital, says one of the main benefits of baby led weaning is that it helps babies learn to recognise their own satiety levels, and that with proper handling and supervision it is safe for most babies who are developmentally ready.
