How it works

Each Olababy silicone replacement straw is sized to one specific Olababy cup and swaps in for a worn or chewed straw in seconds. The 9oz cup and 11oz tumbler straws come in two styles, a stopper straw or an open straw, so pick the style you already use.

Why parents choose it

  • Five fits: the 5oz cup, plus stopper or open straws for the 9oz cup and 11oz tumbler
  • Replaces a chewed or split straw and keeps the same cup in use
  • Soft silicone for a teething straw drinker
  • Light enough at 0.2 oz to keep a spare in the diaper bag

Who it is for

Good fit for
  • Replacing a chewed, split or lost straw on an Olababy training cup or tumbler.
  • A teething straw drinker who goes through straws faster than cups.
Not right for
  • A lost or damaged lid. The lid and straw replacement covers both parts.
  • Another brand of cup. The sizes here are Olababy cup sizes.
  • A first purchase. This is a spare part, not a cup.

Straws are chewed hard by new drinkers, fresh soft-silicone replacements keep the flow and texture consistent, which matters for the skill.

Why Olababy

Every feeding product is one material, food-grade silicone, soft enough for gums that are still teething and inert enough to go through a dishwasher for years. The panel above names what is in it and what is kept out of it.

Olababy has designed in Portland, Oregon since 2015, with parents testing the things their own children eat from.

More about this one

How often should I replace a silicone straw?

Replace an Olababy silicone straw when it is chewed, split or lost. A teething straw drinker often goes through straws faster than cups, and the straw is sold on its own for the 5oz cup, the 9oz cup and the 11oz tumbler. Keeping a spare in the diaper bag or at daycare means a worn straw can be swapped in seconds.

Do the 9oz cup and 11oz tumbler straws come with a stopper?

Yes, if you choose that style. Olababy straws for the 9oz training cup and the 11oz tumbler come as a stopper straw or an open straw, chosen in the size menu, while the 5oz cup straw comes in a single style. Every size is soft silicone and top-rack dishwasher safe.

What is included

Replacement straws in the cup size and style chosen. Fits the Olababy 5oz training cup, 9oz training cup and 11oz tumbler.

How to clean it

Dishwasher safe (top rack).

More questions (7)

When should my baby start using an open cup or straw?

Pediatric feeding specialists encourage supervised open-cup and straw practice from around 6 months, ahead of weaning off the bottle by 12 to 18 months.

Is the straw safe for new teeth?

The straws are soft food-grade silicone: chew-friendly and gentle on gums and new teeth. Replacement straws are available separately.

Is this a spill proof sippy cup?

No, and that is on purpose. Instead of a spouted sippy cup, Olababy makes open training cups with stable bases that resist tipping, because supervised open-cup practice builds real drinking skills. If you want protection on the go, the Training Cup with Lid + Straw snaps a lid over the same cup for spill-resistant straw drinking.

Is this safe for my baby?

Yes. Olababy feeding products are made from 100% high-purity food-grade silicone with no fillers, free of BPA, PVC, lead, and phthalates, and tested to FDA food-contact standards.

How do I clean and sterilize it?

Silicone products are dishwasher safe (top rack) and can be sterilized in boiling water or a steam sterilizer. Air-dry fully before storing.

What if it does not work for us?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery (see our return policy for details). US shipping is free on orders over $49.

Please bring back the old straw

I really like the old straw that doesn’t have the valve. It was easy to use and easy to clean. I don’t like the new version at all but I understand the valve for its spill proof feature. I just hope the company can keep both versions for people to choose from.

Does baby led weaning help a baby learn when they are full?
