How it works
The Olababy SteamBowl cooks soft vegetables, fruit and fish in the microwave in minutes, using a vented lid that circulates steam and then doubles as a strainer. Food goes from microwave to table in the same 8 oz (240 ml) bowl, so there is one dish to cook, cool and serve from.
The two spoons cover both halves of an early meal. Offer purees with the long-handled feeding spoon, then pass baby the leafy-tip training spoon for self-feeding practice once baby starts reaching for it.
Why parents choose it
- Vented SteamBowl lid circulates steam, then drains food as a strainer
- Cook and serve first foods in one 8 oz (240 ml) bowl
- Long-handled feeding spoon for parent-led purees
- Leafy-tip training spoon for baby's first scooping practice
Who it is for
- Good fit for
- The same three pieces as the first feeding set, bought as a bundle: SteamBowl, feeding spoon, training spoon.
- Starting solids around 6 months, tagged 6 to 12 months and 12 months and up.
- A parent who wants steaming and both spoon shapes in one order.
- Not right for
- A family that already owns a SteamBowl.
- A toddler past purees.
- Anyone who wants a bowl that suctions to the tray. The SteamBowl does not.
Starting solids goes smoother when the spoon, bowl, and bib are designed to work together, this bundle is a practical first-foods setup.
Why Olababy
Every feeding product is one material, food-grade silicone, soft enough for gums that are still teething and inert enough to go through a dishwasher for years. The panel above names what is in it and what is kept out of it.
Olababy has designed in Portland, Oregon since 2015, with parents testing the things their own children eat from.

What do I actually need to start solids?
The Olababy starting solids set covers the three basics of a first meal: a way to cook soft food, a spoon to feed purees and a spoon for baby to practice with. The SteamBowl steams vegetables, fruit or fish in the microwave, the feeding spoon is for parent-led purees, and the training spoon goes to baby. Many families start around 6 months, the age this set is made for.

More questions (7)
Is it okay that my baby chews on it?
Yes, mouthing and chewing are a normal part of learning to eat, and soft silicone is gentle on developing gums and teeth.
What utensils are best for baby led weaning?
Soft silicone utensils sized for baby hands work best for baby led weaning. Our leafy training spoon has a flexible tip that bends on contact and scoops from any angle, so an unrefined grasp still gets food to the mouth, and it stands upright so the tip never touches the table. For toddlers, the training fork’s firm-but-soft prongs genuinely hold pasta, fruit, and pancakes.
When can babies use a spoon?
Most babies are ready for spoon practice around 6 months, when solids begin. Early on, a long-handled feeding spoon lets you offer purees while baby watches and learns; as your baby starts grabbing for the spoon, a short training spoon with a boosted-grip handle supports self-feeding practice through the toddler years.
Is this safe for my baby?
Yes. Olababy feeding products are made from 100% high-purity food-grade silicone with no fillers, free of BPA, PVC, lead, and phthalates, and tested to FDA food-contact standards.
How do I clean and sterilize it?
Silicone products are dishwasher safe (top rack) and can be sterilized in boiling water or a steam sterilizer. Air-dry fully before storing.
What if it does not work for us?
Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery (see our return policy for details). US shipping is free on orders over $49.
