Tips for Creating the Perfect Nursery

As expecting parents, you're probably filled with all sorts of emotions, both nervous and excited. You want to do everything right, but probably aren't sure you know what that is exactly! Part of preparing for your little one to enter the world is designing a nursery for your baby that's not only safe, but functional. After all, you and your baby are about to spend countless hours in this room, so making it as convenient and useful as you possible is key. Here are some tips to help you create the perfect baby nursery.

1. Invest in the perfect crib

When it comes to choosing a crib, don't scrimp on quality, this is where your baby will be sleeping after all. And chances are, your baby's future siblings may use it, so be sure to buy a crib with sturdy frame. Some cribs convert to toddler beds, and if you're not planning on having other children anytime soon, these might be the crib for you.

1. Get the softest bedding you can, and lots of it

Make no mistake, babies are a mess. The amount of bedding you will be going through with your wild little ball of adorable will be astounding. Be sure to get extra sheets, as you will be changing them frequently. And look for 100% cotton for your baby's sensitive skin.

1. Pack your changing table with essentials

The sad truth is that your baby will go through so many dirty diapers in their youth, you'd be tempted to buy stock in a diaper company. So, the changing table you get is pretty important. Be sure to stock your table with oils, lotions, ointments, diapers, and wipes, as well as a mobile and toys to keep baby entertained while you're doing the dirty (or clean) deed.

1. Get the most comfortable nursing chair you can find

You'll also be spending a lot of time nursing your baby, so finding a blissfully comfortable chair to sit in is paramount. Consider a rocking chair, to help calm your baby while they eat.

1. Store, store, store!

If you can, build extra storage in your nursery. Open bin storage for blankets and sheets, and high shelves will keep potentially hazardous materials away from your curious baby. Buying a large trunk for diaper or blanket storage makes a great toy chest, when they get to that age.
